One of the most exciting nuclear power plant projects in American history is partnering up with a publicly traded company. And they’re aiming to build out the future of uranium supply.
What’s happening:
- ASP Isotopes (NASDAQ: ASPI) and TerraPower have entered into a new term sheet to build out a new high enriched, low assay uranium production facility
Why it matters:
- Technology entrepreneur and billionaire Bill Gates is the founder of TerraPower, which has begun official construction of their leading edge nuclear power plant located in Wyoming
- The United States Department of Energy has been taking high enriched, low assay uranium production much more seriously lately, launching multiple new meaningful funding commitments including a recent deal with Centrus Energy (NYSE: LEU)
Going deeper:
- The funding for the new high enriched, low assay uranium production facility would be provided by TerraPower and would also grant them an exclusive supply of all fuel produced by ASP Isotopes
- TerraPower’s Natrium facility has become widely considered as one of the most ambitious new ventures in nuclear power generation, alongside of Sam Altman backed Oklo's (NYSE: OKLO) upcoming fast fission nuclear facility located in Idaho
The intrigue:
- The foundational technology of ASP Isotopes has multiple applications including healthcare, semiconductors and even accelerating quantum computing through the production of isotopes such as Silicon-28 which is essential for the manufacturing of quantum computers
