Qatar Airlines is getting in on helicopters. And they’re turning to Blade Air Mobility to do it.
What’s happening:
- Blade Air Mobility (NASDAQ: BLDE) has expanded their partnership with Qatar Airlines to enable any passenger travelling with Qatar Airlines to seamlessly fly from Nice, France to Monaco on a single ticket
How it works:
- Any Qatar Airlines customer who flies into Nice, France is now able to use Blade to take a short helicopter ride to Monaco upon landing
- Passengers who then want to return from Monaco back to Nice can also do this through the new partnership between Blade and Qatar Airlines
Going deeper:
- Blade currently has existing partnerships with multiple other major airlines, including Emirates for international travel and JetBlue for travel primarily in the United States of America
- Blade is also aiming to transition their fleet of aircraft towards being fully electric, which is a trend that has been accelerating following Archer Aviation’s (NYSE: ACHR) recent notable deals with both Southwest Airlines and the United States Air Force
The intrigue:
- Blade currently generates the majority of their revenue from their medical operations, which leverages their fleet of helicopters and short distance aircraft to deliver organ transplants between hospitals in the United States
