One of the biggest publicly traded Bitcoin mining companies continues to double down on artificial intelligence computing power.
What’s happening:
- Vancouver based Bitcoin mining company HIVE Digital Technologies (NASDAQ: HIVE) has announced a new purchase of Nvidia H100 GPUs
- The new purchase is aiming to increase their computing capacity for generative AI workloads and large language model training
By the numbers:
- HIVE has newly purchased 96 Nvidia H100 GPUs
- HIVE has also secured 2 of the new Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper, which is capable of handling some of the most complex large language model training and generative AI workloads
- Collectively HIVE has now repurposed 3,000 GPUs in their existing data centres, many of which are being applied to artificial intelligence computing power
