What’s happening:
- Imperial College of London has officially launched a new facility for cultivated meat and precision fermentation research, known as Imperial’s Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein
- The funding for the new research facility is being provided by the Bezos Earth Fund, the charitable foundation of Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos

- Cultivated meat has been on a rapidly rising trajectory, with recent new regulatory approvals and the historic launch of the first ever lab grown meat products for sale in Singapore

- The Bezos Earth Fund also recently announced a $30M USD grant to North Carolina State University to develop a leading edge research facility focused on cultivated meat and sustainable protein production
- Cargill is one of the first major companies to publicly commit to being involved with the new research facility at North Carolina State University and will aim to help accelerate scientific breakthroughs around sustainable protein production
