Private jets emit a lot of carbon.
Because they are only transporting a small number of individuals per flight, private aviation is a huge source of emissions into the environment.
Now, there’s a public company trying to solve it.
What’s happening:
- Las Vegas based private aviation company Jet AI (NASDAQ: JTAI) has launched a new platform called DynoFlight to try to tackle the carbon problem of private jets
- DynoFlight aims to make enabling carbon offsets easy for individuals and companies using private planes
How it works:
- DynoFlight tracks the carbon emissions of your private flight and then provides suggestions on how to offset it
- They can also directly purchase the carbon offsets on behalf of a company or individual
- Further, they provide proof of purchase and official certification of the carbon offsets
Why it matters:
- Aviation companies are notorious for burning fossil fuels and being a huge source of harmful emissions, leading many startups to work on disruptive technology for sustainable fuel and more
- Finding new ways for air travel to be more climate friendly is a hugely important problem to solve to get closer to net zero emissions globally
Going deeper:
- Jet AI and DynoFlight have partnered with Glanris to be their supplier of carbon credits
- Glanris has developed an innovative technology that leverages biochar for carbon dioxide removal and creates functional applications in water, soil and even concrete
