Oklahoma is getting a new data centre for high performance computing. And Core Scientific and CoreWeave are behind it.

- Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ) and CoreWeave have officially begun construction of their new data centre located in Port Muskogee, Oklahoma
By the numbers:
- The new data centre will have 100 megawatts of total capacity once constructed and operational
- The Oklahoma based project is part of a $8.7B USD deal between CoreWeave and Core Scientific that spans over the next 12 years
Why it matters:
- High performance computing and artificial intelligence workloads have spurred an enormous boom in new data centres and has also led to CoreWeave raising mega funding rounds to scale up accessibility to GPUs

- CoreWeave plans to use the new data centre to host Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) made GPUs to be used by an undisclosed technology company for artificial intelligence workloads and high performance computing

- Core Scientific has also been making new moves to be on the leading edge of innovation in Bitcoin mining, including agreeing to purchase Bitcoin mining chips being developed by Jack Dorsey’s Block (NYSE: SQ)
