There’s now more renewable natural gas in California.
What’s happening:
- Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) has officially opened a new renewable natural gas fuel station located in Carson, California
Why it matters:
- The new fuel station produces renewable natural gas that is made from wastewater and organic waste, with significantly less carbon emissions than diesel fuel and is capable of refuelling commercial vehicles, buses and heavy duty trucks
Going deeper:
- The new fuel station is owned by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts and was originally partially funded by a state government grant
- Low carbon fuel has been a rising trend in the public markets, with more companies beginning to get closer to commercial scale production of renewable natural gas and sustainable aviation fuel seeing new investments from major companies including Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE: BAM)
The intrigue:
- California also just recently saw another publicly listed clean energy company OPAL Fuels (NASDAQ: OPAL) officially begin construction of a new renewable natural gas production facility at a landfill in Santa Clara County
