Drone technology has a lot of potential for disrupting the future. Will it reshape emergency response too?
What’s happening:
- Paladin Drones has raised $5.2M USD in a seed round financing
- The round was led by Gradient Ventures, with notable participation from Khosla Ventures and Toyota Ventures
The big idea:
- Paladin Drones responds to emergency requests by deploying autonomous drones to the location of the incident being reported and providing real time aerial views of the situation as it unfolds
- Through providing real time imaging, Paladin Drones is able to have first responders significantly better prepared for situations before they ever arrive on location
- Paladin Drones have multiple applications across public safety and emergency response, including mass casualties, fires, fleeing suspects, car crashes and even tactical support
By the numbers:
- 20,000 flights have already been successfully completed by Paladin Drones
- The average respond time to a emergency call until a drone is deployed is approximately 90 seconds
- There are approximately 600,000 emergency calls made per day in the United States of America
Going deeper:
- Multiple local police forces have already begun to use Paladin’s fleet of drones, including law enforcement in North Carolina, Georgia and other states
The intrigue:
- Paladin Drones even recently launched a new feature which enables their drones to be capable of dropping potentially life saving equipment such as life vest or Narcan from the sky
