What’s happening:
- Palantir (NYSE: PLTR) has launched a new partnership with prominent venture backed artificial intelligence startup Anthropic to make Anthropic’s popular Claude models accessible to intelligence and defense agencies in the United States of America
The big idea:
- Palantir will integrate Anthropic’s Claude 3 and 3.5 family of artificial intelligence model’s into the Palantir AI Platform that is used by multiple government agencies
- Palantir will provide heavy cybersecurity protection and encryption to allow classified information to be accessed by Anthropic’s artificial intelligence models
Why it matters:
- Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) and Scale AI also just recently debuted their own large language model for defense tech that was purpose built to be used by the United States Department of Defense
Going deeper:
- Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has been a major investor in Anthropic and is also their primary cloud provider, hosting their artificial intelligence models on Amazon Web Services
- The United States government has been taking artificial intelligence much more seriously of late, cutting new deals with publicly listed companies such as Bigbear.ai (NYSE: BBAI) and Airship Holdings (NASDAQ: AISP)
