- French quantum computing startup Pasqal has announced a new partnership with oil giant Aramco to install the first ever quantum computer in Saudi Arabia
Why it matters:
- Countries across the world are racing to be on the leading edge of quantum computing, with the Canadian government previously announcing new funding for quantum computing startups and the United States White House declaring quantum computing to be a critical technology
- The Australian government also recently announced a $940M AUD investment into quantum computing company PsiQuantum, with the intention of installing a commercially viable quantum computer in Brisbane for the first time ever

- Pasqal has already sold two quantum computers to France and Germany prior to announcing their most recent deal with Aramco
- Pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO) recently announced their plans to begin investing into quantum computing startups focused on new breakthroughs in life sciences and drug discovery

- Alain Aspect, one of the original founders of Pasqal, previously won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking experiments in quantum physics which led to many of the innovations required to bring quantum computing into existence
