Illinois wants to ramp up electric vehicle charging. And they’ve turned to Blink Charging to do it.
What’s happening:
- Blink Charging (NASDAQ: BLNK) has been awarded $2M USD in new grant funding from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for the build out of new electric vehicle charging infrastructure
By the numbers:
- The new $2M USD grant will establish 15 new electric vehicle charging stations across 5 different locations within Illinois
- Blink is currently the 3rd largest provider of electric vehicle charging stations in the United States of America
Why it matters:
- Publicly listed electric vehicle charging companies have been seeing a continual flow of non dilutive funding lately, with the United States Department of Energy pouring more than a billion dollars into EVgo (NASDAQ: EVGO) and ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) landing funding from the California government for new charging stations located near busy highways
Going deeper:
- Blink Charging has been successfully scaling their operations beyond just the United States as well, recently surpassing more than 100,000 chargers sold or deployed globally
