The future of visiting a doctor's office might be changing a lot.
What’s happening:
- San Francisco, California based healthcare company Forward Health has raised $100M USD in a new funding round to launch AI powered doctors offices
- The new product called Forward CarePods aims to offer a self directed experience that is easily accessible and leverages artificial intelligence to rapidly diagnose individuals
How it works:
- CarePods are small, purpose built physical locations that can be deployed in office buildings, malls or public spaces
- Once stepping inside a CarePod, there is a custom touchscreen that can be used to navigate to specific health concerns
- Individuals are able to do a full body scan, check their blood pressure, screen for diabetes and even check vital organs all within a CarePod
- While inside of a CarePod individuals can use Forward's mobile application to connect directly with a doctor to further discuss treatment plans or have specific questions answered
Going deeper:
- Forward has a number of notable backers including Kholsa Ventures, Founders Fund, Samsung Next, SoftBank, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and more
- Forward’s advisors include Silicon Valley legends such as Eric Schmidt, John Doerr, Marc Benioff and Marissa Mayer
By the numbers:
- Forward has raised $657M USD since inception
- Within a year Forward plans to have 3,200 CarePods in locations all across the United States
